Saturday Swatch: Revlon Naughty

The is only one hour left in this Saturday, but it’s been a while since I have done a Saturday Swatch, and I thought I could fit one in.

Today’s swatch does feature a teensy bit of nail art, haha, but eight out of my ten fingers were sporting Revlon’s Naughty, so we’ll just call it a swatch. ;)

Naughty is a beautiful purpley-brown mushroom color with a vibrant violet shimmer. Naughty is a re-release of Revlon’s Perplex, which is the dupe of the highly coveted Chanel Paradoxal.

Here is what Naughty’s base color looks like when it’s not giving off the violet shimmer.

In total: The formula on this polish is great. It is super pigmented and applies gorgeously, giving full coverage in two easy coats. As for wear, I only wore this manicure for about two days before I took it off myself, so I am unaware on how it performs in this area. Although, I’ve seen other reviews, and have yet to read a negative comment regarding wear. As for the color? L-o-v-e. I have been coveting Revlon’s Perplex for the longest time, and am extremely happy with Revlon’s decision to re-release it. This is now definitely my favorite shroomy color in my collection. One complaint that people may have though, is that the violet shimmer is more pronounced in the bottle than when painted on the nail. Personally, I actually like that it is more subtle, as it makes the polish have that *special* effect, haha, but that’s just my opinion!

Thanks for reading!

Medium/short squoval; Magenta and gun metal halfmoons with silver glitter outline.

I did these so long ago, my second documented attempt at nail art! :’)
I really need to get back into the half moon design. It’s effortlessly classy.

Trend Report: Interesting Glitters

With Spring 2012 here, we are starting to see the latest trends that will takeover the following three months. For me, the premier of spring colors always excites me. Starting to see the brighter colors show up, it is almost as indicative that winter has passed, as the flowers blooming. This spring, it is all about textures, specifically interesting glitter textures.

The standout polish that influenced this trend? Well, no other than Deborah Lippmann - Mermaids Dream. No surprise there, as Deborah Lippmann never fails to deliver gorgeous and most importantly - new nail polish colors. Here is the publicity photo of Mermaids Dream.

And here is a swatch by http://pointlesscafe.blogspot.com/. Everyone should check out her site! She post a lot of great swatch pictures, which really helps get the true color of the polish.

It is a sea foam frost/metallic with gold shimmer and blue hex glitters. LOOK AT THAT TEXTURE.

Now, for China Glaze’s Prismatic Chroma Glitters collection (available in stores in April). This collection amps up the chrome/metallic of Mermaids Dream, by also mixing in duo-chrome and glitter (more glitter heavy). A mix I have never seen before. Here’s the publicity photo:

And here is swatch picture by www.scrangie.com of Optical Illusion (my favorite of the bunch). Please, do yourself a favor and go to her site to check out all the other swatches. These are such dense and interesting polishes, that you really need to check out actual pictures, and who does swatches better than Scrangie?

Now, not everyone can afford to spend $18 dollars on a Deborah Lippmann polish, and let’s be real, in these times, not everyone can afford to spend $6 on a China Glaze polish. This is where Wet n Wild, the super hero of cheap makeup, steps in to save us all with their release of their limited edition Coloricon Bejeweled collection, retailing at $2.99 each. This collection features multi-colored glitters in a color shifting base. There are no swatch pictures yet of these colors, but nouveaucheap.blogspot.com, a must see blog for all those frugal and makeup obsessed, has put up pictures of the display. Here is a picture from their site:

In all honesty, the strong multi-colored flash of this collection has me more excited than the China Glaze collection. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these, and really see the opacity of the polish, which could be a deal breaker for me, seeing as I want these to be stand alone polishes and not just another cool topper.

This has been a long post, but I am just really excited for this spring trend! I was expecting another spring of brights or pastels, but this merge of metallics/duo-chromes and glitters has pleasantly surprised me to say the least.

I hope you all enjoyed the post, and let me know in my ‘Talk to Me’ or reply link what polishes you are most excited for this spring!

Medium square, Blue glitter fade out/gradient.
Materials: I used quite a few polishes in this design, and although I would regularly post them, I want to make this a quick post, so just message me if you’d like to know about a color.

These are the bridesmaid nails I did a preview post about a month or so ago. Sorry I took so long to post, better late then never! Have a great weekend, and hello to all my new followers!

Short squoval; Fusha and pink glitter diagonal with cerulean glitter diagonal stripe.

Materials: Wet n Wild Pink, and Pink glitter (don’t know the names), and an L.A. Colors blue glitter nail art polish.

Throwback!! This was my first ever documented attempt at nail art. It may look simple and ugly to you, but even with the bubbling, and no top coat, I thought this was pretty rad. :)

November 10, 2011

Did this while waiting for my dentist appointment about 3 months ago (I really need to catch up on my posting lol). I was a bride’s maid for my Tía’s wedding, and our color scheme was blue. Naturally, my nails needed to go with the theme, so I was testing out a few variations of gradients/fadeouts. These are the first two try-outs, but for reason, it still didn’t feel right…

…so I texted a pic to my cousin, and she suggested not using clear as my last tone, but rather a lighter blue, and voila!

I liked it much better. :) Official pics of full mani coming soon.

GUUYYYYYZZZ

I finally got the new Revlon’s Facets of Fuchsia from their Expressionist Collection!!!!!!!!!! Facets of Fuchsia is a polish filled with pinkish purple (magenta?) large hexagonal and mini glitters suspended in a black jelly base. This one was hard to find, because it was just massed released October 1st, and was only available at Target before that time. If that wasn’t a set back, get this: Facets of Fuchsia is a Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance dupe. Oh, you mean the GaGa partnered nail polish that retails for $18??

Why YES, YES I DO.

Anyway, being a popular dupe, it was snatched up in every single display of the ten stores I went to. So when I casually asked my friend if we could make a quick stop at Walgreens before hitting Tap-Ex, he probably didn’t know that I was praying silently and profusely that this would be it. Jetting for the makeup section, I SAW IT, nabbed it, YEAHed in satisfaction all while doing a victory dance. I’m pretty sure I embarrassed the hell out of my friend, but I was too happy to care. ANYWAY, I plan on swatching this baby as soon as I can get my lovely Jordana Quick Shine, and maybe a good basecoat (all my polishes are cracking! eek!). Now for the pictures of my new pretty:

Resting majestically on my friend’s car dashboard.

FINALLY in my greedy little hands.

And now, for the bottle close up, in all it’s glitter glory. Prepare to faint y’all:

*le sigh* :)

So happy right now guyz. (at this Walgreens I was also able to purchase Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Glow in Dark polish, but I’ll have a separate post on that later) Thanks for reading, I hope you all had a wonderful day as well!! :)
