Medium square; Matte Funky swirl and cheetah design.

Materials: L.A. Colors - Tropical Storm, Hard Candy - Matte-ly In Love, white acrylic paint, and a small paint brush.

This was a product of quickly doodling on my nails. Random and funky!

xrainbowheartx asked: I love doing my nails, and I also bought the Hard Candy Matte top coat around the same time as you. I read your review, and my experience was a bit different. I put it on top of my basic black nail polish, and as someone who rarely leaves their nails done for a week or more, I found that it lasted really long and didn't crack. It did really stick on though! Also, the only time it lost a bit of matte was around the tips after a long week. Just giving another view. Also, I love getting inspired from your blog!

Thanks for the added review! Yeah, I really don’t know why mine did that, perhaps I layered it on a little thick? I’ve only tried it with the blue that you see in the picture, so I definitely need to see how it reacts with other polishes. I really did like it overall though, and I’m glad you did too. :)

And thanks for the kind words. :) Means a lot.

On my fingers I have on a jelly-creme blue L.A. Color unnamed color (with matte top coat), but on my thumb I have on O.P.I.’s Simmer & Shimmer (Revlon Fast Dry Top Coat).

Now for that follow up on Hard Candy’s Matte-ly In Love!

Application was really nice! The topcoat dried fast, which means you have to work quick, but the brush was firm, and perfect for the thick type of nail polish consistency this has. Wear was so-so. I usually only tend to have my polish on for about 4 days max (I just peel away at it when I’m nervous or stressed), so it did a really good job of staying on. The only thing that might annoy some is that it does this weird crackly thing, where there were like cracks in it by day 5. It didn’t peel off at all, just these little cracks, like when you crack an egg’s shell but its not broken into yet (I don’t know if that cleared anything up at all, lol). Removal was HARD, this topcoat really bonds itself to the nail, so removal was a bit of a pain.
Now, for its deciding factor, Matte-ness: It was definitely matte at first, but around day 3 it started to regain some shine, another coat of it did the trick and re-matted it.
All in all I’m really happy with my purchase. :) So yes, I’d recommend this for a good, cheap matte top coat.

PS. Sorry if I sound a bit loony, I just finished finals and I am a tad bit sleep deprived. Hope you all have an awesome weekend! :)

I went to Walmart today and was just browsing the makeup isles for a white polish (in need of a good one, any suggestions, leave in my ask!), but instead I found this! It’s a matte topcoat by Hard Candy. The price was pretty good considering that most matte topcoats are pricey (around $8-$15), but this one was $4! I tried it on in the store, on top of a cream blue, and it was amazing. Smooth finish, very matte, and dried really fast. I’ve tried the famous Essie’s “Matte About You” ($10), and it was suuuper slow in drying time, so this was a huge plus in Hard Candy’s.I’ll be posting more on this topcoat later, since matte topcoats are infamous for their shrinkage, tough removal, and tendency to regain shine.
